Free Bugsy now!

Well day two of the re-plumb has seen Bugsy incarcerated in a spare bedroom

You can see how happy he is about this.

So for a little break from it all he went down to Campbell's which was really good until he had to be crated for a bit. Not too happy about that either. The indignity of it all.
Sure humans look at dogs running and playing and lounging in the sun and say, "Wow I wish I had it so good". But clearly they don't factor days like today into the picture.

A least a few more days of this insanity for the big guy. Send some calming thoughts for him please.

This dog can sleep anywhere!

Today we have the exquisite experience of having our house re-plumbed - poor Bugsy is contained in the office with me while the house has been draped in drop cloths and plastic sheeting. And now the real fun has begun in that both workers are sawing - one above us and one to our side. I feel a nervous wreck - but the beast? He is sound asleep. Incredible.
But when the guys start talking he is awake and on duty. Good job Bugsy! Now if I could just sleep like that.

A new antler!

What a great day to be Bugsy - oh yea he thinks that everyday - but today he got a new antler to chew on. I was skeptical of how successful a chew an antler would be but I have to tell you this is way up on his list of lovely things.
I bought one back in November and couldn't help but notice that it was hard as granite and didn't appear to have much smell. It didn't seem too appealing to me - a silly human- but I can tell you that he loved it from the moment he received it.
He has chewed that one down to a size that is too small for him as he puts the whole thing in his mouth and I worry about him swallowing it so off to the shop for a new one.
This one too was very well received and in fact he is now snoozing next to me with it laying near him.

NC Gas Chamber Ban Call-In day

LINK

Your voice is needed on Tuesday, April 21 for the NC Gas Chamber Ban Call-In day.
The animals need you to pick up the phone and make a call on their behalf. It will take only a few minutes and after you're done you can know that this simple act will help make a difference.

The House Bill 6 / Senate Bill 199 (Davie’s Law) that bans gas chambers is in danger of not passing. We need you to call in and thank Governor Beverly Perdue for her past support of the ban on gas chambers in North Carolina and ask her to make HER voice heard now and keep her campaign promise to end gas chambers in North Carolina.

Sept. 29, 2008 Perdue Statement on Animal Treatment
“As governor, Bev will work to ensure that animal shelters across the state use injection as the only method of euthanasia and will support legislation requiring its use and prohibiting other methods. It is the only way to guarantee that animals and shelter workers are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.”

Ask Governor Perdue to call on NC legislators to pass House Bill 6 / Senate Bill 199 (Davie’s Law) that bans gas chambers and allows only injection for euthanasia. This law ensures that:

* Shelter animals will have a more humane, peaceful death.
* Shelter workers will be protected from the harmful exposure to carbon monoxide.
* Taxpayers will save money as gas chambers are more costly to operate and maintain.

How to Contact Governor Bev Perdue:
Go to http://www.governor.state.nc.us/ and click on contact us. Complete the form, asking the Governor to support House Bill 6 / Senate Bill 199.

* Raleigh Office and Tollfree number: (800) 662-7952 or (919) 733-2391
* Eastern Office in New Bern: (252) 514-4825
* Western Office in Asheville: (828) 251-6160
* Piedmont Office in Charlotte: (704) 330-5290

On Tuesday, April 21, let’s flood the Governor’s office with calls and e-mails with the message to end gas chambers in our animal shelters! Don’t forget to say “thank you” for her support!

SPCA dogwalk 2009

Wow can a day get better than wandering around a park full of dogs and humans wielding biscuits? Not for me. Not with the sun shining and a breeze blowing all those smells around.
I must have sniffed several hundred butts today - ah isn't it wonderful?
My humans had a malfunction right as the race, er I mean walk, started so we wound up in the middle of the pack.
Now I can't hang in the middle so I really pushed the pace, by the time we finished there were only a handful of dogs ahead of us.
Turns out my humans were lucky I had pushed the pace because our early finish meant we got best seats of the house at the Irish pub perfectly situated to watch all the goings on in the park.
Wow what a day! I seriously can't get enough dogs to meet and greet. Humans too - old ones, young ones, all sorts. It's all good!
But I'm real tired now so that's all I can say about it
Great day - great cause

Bugsy and Marmaduke

Since adopting this silly boy I have become an avid Marmaduke reader - so often Bugsy is very reminiscent of Marmaduke. Today's cartoon though is too funny and too accurate. If you open a box he will try and steal the paper that comes out or if a label falls down he's off with it. It's as if he knows that you need that piece of paper or part of the object you are trying to assemble. Never fails.

Bugsy and the mole

Bugsy loves to catch moles - one might say he is obsessed with them. He doesn't eat them, and initially he didn't kill them, he played with them. Nowadays the little guys don't make it (easier for me) but he loses interest in them once they are deceased.
Here is a little clip I made from still images taken after a successful mole hunt.

UNC Tarheels are national champs!

Whew what a game! I had to stay up late with my crazy human to make sure she wasn't going to run off. You know you have to keep your eye on them. One minute they're in the house with you than **poof** gone. You need to be especially cautious when those things they call 'suitcases' appear. If it is just their suitcase only some of them are going. If it is just your suitcase - get worried because a kennel stay is in your future. But if it is a human's case and your case start dancing 'cuz you're all going somewhere fun! Usually to the mountains or to the beach.
Oops got off track there but those are important messages fellow canines - watch the suitcase activity closely!

Welcome to Zoomie Tales

Welcome to this blog which is also known as "Zoomie Tales" and is linked to my main site www.dailyzoomie.com. This blog will tell the silly stories of my life, my human calls them my zoomie tales. I try to have at least one memorable act of random silliness each and every day!
So join my in my daily celebration of life, come back often especially when you need a laugh.
By the way my human got the inspiration for The Daily Zoomie because everyday after my morning exercise I tuck my tail and go for a crazy romp around my yard. I run as fast as I can, leap over hedges, duck under limbs, grab a toy or two, and juke out my unsuspecting human. Afterwhich I am ready to go inside and have a nap in the sun!
